Saint Nektarios or Nektarios of Aegina or Nektarios of Pentapolis was born in 1846 in Thrace, modern day Turkey. After completing his studies in his hometown, he decided to dedicate is life to the Lord. Known as a great miracle worker, particularly as a healer of every sort of disease. He was also an abundant writer, theologist, educator, philosopher, moralist, poet, ascetic and mystic. Most importantly Saint Nektarios was a man of deep prayer and a hard worker, no work was ever dishonorable to him.
Virgin Mary sweet kissing is one of the most familiar depictions. An icon inspired by the Virgin that is in the Holy Monastery of Preveli in Crete. It is an intriguing version depicting the Mother of God, an artwork of a hagiographer of the Cretan School. It was created in the 17th century.
