Description
Saint Sophia and her daughters, Faith, Hope, and Love, were known for their steadfast devotion to God. The three daughters expressed their loyalty to God so unwaveringly to the Roman Emperor that he had them killed. Saint Sophia was forced to watch the torture and beheading of her three daughters. Soon after they were buried, she gave her soul back to God at her daughters’ tombs. This icon depicts Saint Sophia together with her three daughters, whose memories are celebrated on September 17th.
